Cleaning your face mask
Keeping your nebulizer face mask clean is essential for its effective operation. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to properly clean your face mask:
Disassemble: After each use, disassemble the mask from the nebulizer. Most masks detach easily from the tubing. Remember to handle the pieces gently to prevent any damage.
Rinse: Rinse the mask and tubing under warm running water for about a minute. This step helps to remove any remaining medication residue.
Soap Wash: Prepare a solution of warm water and mild dish soap in a clean bowl. Submerge the mask and tubing in the solution and gently agitate the water with your hands to clean the parts. Please avoid using harsh or strong-smelling detergents, which may leave a residue or produce unpleasant odors.
Rinse Again: After washing, rinse the mask and tubing thoroughly under warm running water. Make sure to rinse off all soap to prevent any possible irritation during the next use.
Air Dry: Shake off the excess water and place the mask and tubing on a clean, dry towel. Let the parts air dry completely before reassembling. Avoid using paper towels to dry the pieces as they can leave behind lint.
Sanitize: At least once a week, it's recommended to sanitize the mask and tubing. After washing and rinsing, submerge the pieces in a solution made of 1 part white vinegar and 3 parts warm water. Let them soak for 15-20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly and air dry.
Storage: Once all the parts are dry, reassemble the nebulizer. Store it in a clean, dry location until the next use.
Remember, a clean nebulizer will function better and provide a safer environment for your medication delivery.
